Traffic Stat for March 2008

About This Blog 2 Comments »

March 2008 Statistic

Overview:

I started my blog, BNguyen dot NET, in the middle of March 2008. After 2 weeks of running, I got 225 unique visitors who viewed 1838 web pages in total. I built my site map and notified several famous search engine sites such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Baidu, and Ask. Therefore I got 1538 bots/spiders for indexing my blog contents from those search engines. Besides, if you subscribed my feeds, you should received it through either your feed readers or your emails. And that’s why I got 254 feeds.

Analysis:

First Week: As I mentioned in my How Did I Build My Blog post entry, I almost got no traffic because my blog had just a little content. That was why I didn’t do any “advertising work.” I worked pretty hard to build my own contents as well as enhance my blog appearance. So, no traffic is a normal thing.

Second week: My blog got more and more traffic from the Internet because of the following reasons:

  • Everytime I wrote a blog entry, I sent it through my Yahoo Messenger list, and my friends forwarded it to their friends. This action sometimes was considered as spamming, but to my blog, it was a fastest way to boost up the number of my visitors.
  • I asked my friends about the topics that they were most concerned, tried to do research and wrote about them.
  • Everytime my friends asked me how to do something about computer, I told them to check BNguyen dot NET.
  • I submitted my articles to Digg, Plugim, and some other blog promotion sites.
  • I wrote my comments on several famous blogs (JohnChow.com, Jimkarter.com) in order to attract people go to my blog
  • I edited all my signatures from emails to forum accounts and put a link back to BNguyen dot NET.
  • Some of my friends promoted my blog through Facebook network. Thanks to Kurt Nguyen, Le Bui, and Kimmy Phan for your support.

Goals for Next Month, April 2008:

  • I will double my visitor number and triple my pageview number.
  • I will double the number of entries in How To Do category.

Let see if my blog, BNguyen dot NET, can achieve those goals.

The Very First Entry of BNguyen dot NET

About This Blog 4 Comments »

Welcome to BNguyen dot NET!

After spending about a week on “designing” BNguyen dot NET, I decide to put a full stop to the preparation stage of this blog, and start my first step to the next stage: building content. It took me quite long to build this personal webblog because I could only spend 2hrs/day on configuring the web hosting, picking and install different blog’s themes, editing themes, and other stuffs. If you are interested in how I built my blog, check this blog in a couple of days. I’ll give you a very detailed guide about how to build a personal blog.

Oop! I forgot to tell you the most important thing: the purpose of BNguyen dot NET, or what BNguyen dot NET is about, in another saying. BNguyen dot NET is a personal blog that have blog entries related to high-tech field, focusing on computer topics. Because this is a personal blog, some entries could be “very personal.” If you are not interested in what are happening to me (Brian Nguyen), please skip those blog entries. BNguyen dot NET is an open webblog. That means that “correct me if I’m wrong, provide more information if I miss any, give me a high five if I’m right, or whatever you want to discuss about the blog entries, but no SPAMMING, please!”

Last but not least, thank you for visiting BNguyen dot NET. Let’s check it out tomorrow for the next blogs which have more useful information. Again, welcome to BNguyen dot NET!
